Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about playing Big Game Energy.
Getting Started
What is Big Game Energy?
Big Game Energy is a skill-based sports forecasting game. You predict specific outcomes of real matches — not just who wins, but precise stats like goal margins, shot counts, and more. The more accurate your forecasts, the more points you earn. There are no odds, no luck, and no gambling — only skill.
How do I start playing?
Sign up for a free account, browse the upcoming matches, and submit your predictions before the lock time. Your picks are automatically entered into the daily tournament for your plan tier.
Is it free to play?
Yes. The Free plan gives you access to the core question pool on every match at no cost. Starter and Pro plans unlock additional questions and bigger prize pools.
What sports are covered?
Football (soccer) is the primary sport at launch. Additional sports will be added in future updates.
Making Picks
How do I submit a prediction?
Open any upcoming match, answer the forecast questions shown for your plan tier, and hit Submit. Each question has its own answer type — a number, a range, or a yes/no choice.
Can I change my pick after submitting?
No. Picks are final the moment you submit. This keeps the game fair for everyone and prevents last-minute adjustments based on team news or injury updates.
When do picks lock?
Picks lock 50 minutes before the scheduled kick-off time, regardless of your plan. The exact lock time is shown on each match page. After the lock you can still view the match but cannot submit new predictions.
What happens if a match is postponed or cancelled?
Postponed or cancelled matches are excluded from scoring. Any picks already submitted for that match won't affect your tournament score.
What are share cards?
After a match resolves, you can share your best moments as shareable image cards — correct picks, prediction streaks, upset calls, leaderboard rank, weekly recaps, and a "Can you beat me?" challenge card. Share cards can be posted to social media directly from your picks history. Sharing certain cards also earns you BME Coins.
Question Types & Scoring
What types of questions are there?
- Integer — Predict an exact number within a range, e.g. "Goal Margin: −3 to +3". The closer you are, the more points you earn.
- Band — Choose a bracket that the real result will fall into, e.g. "Total Shots: 0–10 / 11–20 / 21–30 / 31+". Neighbouring bands score partial points.
- Binary — A two- or three-option choice, e.g. "Both teams to score? Yes / No". Correct answer earns full points; wrong answer earns zero.
How is my score calculated?
Every question has a weight (its maximum point value). For integer and band questions your score decreases linearly the further away your answer is from the real result. An exact hit earns the full weight; the maximum possible miss earns zero. Binary questions are all-or-nothing — correct gets full weight, incorrect gets zero. There is no randomness in the scoring formula.
Can I earn partial points?
Yes, on integer and band questions. If you predict Goal Margin = +2 and the actual result is +1, you earn partial points for being close. Only binary questions have no partial scoring.
What does "weight" mean?
Weight is the maximum number of points a question is worth. Harder or more nuanced questions carry a higher weight. Every match has a standard question pool with a combined weight cap, ensuring no single question dominates your total score.
Is there a time bonus for submitting early?
No. Big Game Energy is purely skill-based. Your score depends entirely on the accuracy of your predictions, not how early you submitted them.
Tournaments & Leaderboard
How do tournaments work?
A new tournament is created each day for each plan tier (Free, Starter, Pro). All matches scheduled for that day are included in the tournament. Your total score across all matches in the day determines your rank on the leaderboard.
Why is there a separate leaderboard for each plan?
Free, Starter, and Pro players have access to different question pools and different prize pools. Keeping tiers separate ensures you are always competing on a level playing field against players with the same access as you.
How is my rank determined?
Your rank is based on your total points scored across all questions in the daily tournament. Tied players share the same rank.
Do unused questions count against me?
No. Only questions you actually submitted picks for are counted. Skipping a question doesn't penalise you — it simply means you score zero on that question.
What is a prediction streak?
A prediction streak counts how many correct picks you have made in a row across all matches. Your current streak and personal best are shown on your dashboard. Streak share cards become available once you hit a streak of two or more.
What is a weekly recap?
At the end of each week the platform automatically generates a personal summary — total picks made, correct picks, accuracy percentage, and BME Coins earned. Your recap is shown on your dashboard and can be shared as a card.
Plans & Access
What is the difference between Free, Starter, and Pro?
| Feature | Free | Starter | Pro |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard questions | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Pro exclusive questions | — | — | ✓ |
| Daily tournament | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Pay with BME Coins | — | ✓ | — |
What are Pro Exclusive questions?
Pro Exclusive questions are higher-difficulty forecasts available only to Pro subscribers — for example, predicting the minute band of the first goal or which team scores first. They carry their own separate weight pool on top of the standard question pool, giving Pro players more ways to earn points.
Can I pay for Starter with BME Coins instead of USDC?
Yes. On the subscription page you can choose to pay the Starter plan entirely in BME Coins. The coin cost is calculated as the Starter price divided by the current coin price (shown at checkout). Coin-paid Starter gives identical access to USDC-paid Starter — same competitions, same prize pools.
Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan at any time?
Yes. Plan changes take effect immediately. If you downgrade, picks you have already submitted for the current day are not affected.
BME Coins
What are BME Coins?
BME Coins are the platform's off-chain utility currency. They are separate from USDC prizes — you earn them by playing, sharing, and referring friends, and you can spend them to pay for a Starter subscription.
How do I earn BME Coins?
- Tournament prizes — daily leaderboard finishers receive BME Coins alongside (or instead of) USDC.
- Share bonuses — sharing a win card or upset card earns coins when someone clicks your link for the first time.
- Referrals — coins are awarded when a referred friend plays actively for the required number of days.
- Referral milestones — bonus coins for reaching total referral count thresholds.
- Weekly recap — coins earned during the week are summarised in your weekly recap.
What can I use BME Coins for?
Currently you can use BME Coins to pay for the Starter subscription instead of USDC. Additional uses — such as boosted entry fees and exclusive competitions — are planned for future updates.
How much is a BME Coin worth?
The coin price is set by the platform and displayed at checkout when you pay with coins. The Starter subscription costs a fixed USDC amount divided by the current coin price — so the number of coins required changes if the coin price changes.
What is the Top-25 streak bonus?
Every time you finish in the top 25 on a daily leaderboard, your Top-25 streak increases by one. Miss a day or finish outside the top 25 and the streak resets. A streak of 6 or more consecutive days earns a 1.1× multiplier on your daily BME Coin prize. Your current streak is shown on your dashboard with a flame icon.
Where can I see my BME Coin balance and history?
Go to Coins in the navigation. You can view your total balance and a full transaction history filtered by earned or spent, with labels for each source (tournament prize, share bonus, referral, etc.).
Prizes & Payouts
How do prizes work?
At the end of each daily tournament, prizes are distributed to the top-ranked players in each tier according to that day's prize structure (winner-takes-all, top-N fixed, or percentage split). Prize amounts and structures are shown on the tournament leaderboard page.
What currency are prizes paid in?
Cash prizes are paid in USDC on the Base network. To receive prizes you must save a USDC-compatible wallet address (Base) in your account settings. Players without a saved payout address will have their prize held until one is added.
How do I set up my payout wallet?
Go to Settings, find the "Payout wallet" field, and paste your Base network wallet address (0x… format). Prizes are sent as USDC on Base — make sure your wallet supports Base network assets. Address changes have a 24-hour security hold before taking effect.
What happens if two players are tied?
Tied players share the same rank and split the prize allocated to that rank evenly. For example, if two players tie for 1st place, the first-place prize is divided equally between them.
What is the platform token?
Big Game Energy has its own on-chain BGE Token (ERC-20 on Base). It is separate from BME Coins — the token is a blockchain asset while coins are an off-chain balance. Token distribution to wallets will be enabled in a future update alongside the on-chain bridge.
Referrals
How does the referral program work?
Share your unique referral link from the Referrals page. When a friend signs up using your link and plays actively for the required number of days within the qualification window, you earn BME Coins. The exact coin reward and activity requirements are shown on the referrals page.
Are there milestone bonuses?
Yes. Reach certain total referral counts and earn a one-time bonus on top of the per-referral reward. Active milestones and their coin amounts are listed on your referrals page.
When are referral coins released?
Coins are released once your referred friend meets the activity requirement (a minimum number of active play days within the qualification window). Referrals that expire before the requirement is met do not earn coins.
Fair Play
Is Big Game Energy gambling?
No. Big Game Energy is a skill game. Scores are determined by the accuracy of your predictions using a transparent, deterministic formula — the same inputs always produce the same output. There are no odds, no house edge, and no element of chance in scoring.
Can the platform change scores after the fact?
All scoring events are written to an immutable audit log. Once a match is resolved, scores are final. Administrators can override individual question results in exceptional circumstances (e.g. data errors), and any such change is also logged.
What stops someone from creating multiple accounts?
Each account is linked to a unique email address or Telegram account. Accounts found to be operating in bad faith may be suspended. We reserve the right to withhold prizes from accounts that violate fair-play rules.
Can I play via Telegram?
Yes. Big Game Energy has a Telegram Mini App accessible directly inside Telegram. It uses the same account, the same picks, and the same tournaments as the web app. You can link your Telegram account to an existing email account from the Connected Accounts section in Settings.
